Limited Art archive book by Dutch jewellery artist Ralph Bakker
Limited Art archive book by Dutch jewellery artist Ralph Bakker
A collectible art archive book dedicated to the work of leading Dutch jewellery artist Ralph Bakker. Issued as a limited edition and signed by the artist, this volume offers a special opportunity to explore and preserve the story of Bakker’s distinctive jewellery practice.
Ralph Bakker works in a bold, immediately recognisable style, combining gold, silver, niello, enamel and stones. Colour and rhythm are essential to his jewellery, with considered repetition and chain-linking giving his pieces their characteristic visual language.
His necklaces often favour a more linear, one-dimensional structure, with the clasp becoming one of the most distinctive elements. These beautifully resolved clasps can be worn at the front, recalling the symbolic jewellery traditionally worn with regional dress from Volendam and Zeeland.
Bakker’s work is represented in international museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Koch Collection in Basel and the Newark Museum of Art.
