Bertel Gardberg

Finnish silversmith and jewelry designer

(1916 - 2007)

Bertel Gardberg ( 1916 - 2007 ) is a well-known Finnish silversmith and jewelry designer. People mainly know his works as objects for everyday use. He combined teak, silver and steel,  turning cutlery into art for the everyday dining table. For jewelry design, Bertel Gardberg liked to find different stones in the nature, polish them and combine the polished stones with silver to create jewelry items. The shapes in his jewelry are often inspired by nature. The stamps in Gardberg’s jewelry are unusually large and in visible locations. Bertel Gardberg won both gold and silver medals at the Milan Triennial in the 1950s.
